Division 4 - Arrangements
The Universal Arrangements Scorecard
The following ARS standard scorecard will be used to judge
all arrangements in this show:
Conformance -
20 points
placement and technical construction
roses correctly names
conformance to type of design
other specific requirements of
schedule
Design - 30 points
Perfection of the rose(s) - 30 points
Creativity and Expressiveness - 10 points
Distinction - 10 points

Arrangements
Competition is
open to everyone. All arrangements are
by advance registration only. Request for
entries should be mailed to Sue Illg, 8409 Lawdraker Road, Apex, NC 27539 or

Upon
registration, the exhibitor will be responsible for filling that space or
seeing that it is filled by a substitute.
Each exhibitor
is permitted only one entry in each class, but there is no limit to the number
of classes an exhibitor may enter.
Entries will be
accepted from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2006. Judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. All arrangements must be picked up at 5:00
p.m.
Each entry must
be the work of the exhibitor. Outdoor grown roses of high quality should be
used in all arrangements, but need not have been grown by the exhibitor. Roses
must be correctly named on the entry tag in accordance with ARS rules.
The rose must
be the dominant flower in all arrangements. Other flowers and foliage may be
used unless stated otherwise in the schedule. Line material may include dry, tinted,
or painted material. No artificial flowers or foliage permitted. Fresh plant
material may not be painted, treated, or dyed.
Bases and
accessories are allowed in all classes. Backdrops may be used, but cannot alter
size of niche,
Plants on the
area or N.C. Conservation List and live creatures are not permitted as part of
any entry.
The use of the
American flag is not permitted according to ARS rules.
All entries are
to be interpretive of the class title.
The ARS
Standard System of Awards will be used.
Minimum points
for first, second, and third are 90, 85, or 80 points respectively.
High awards
require a minimum score of 92. This should be evident in a noticeably higher
quality.
ARS Gold,
Silver, and Bronze Certificates may be awarded in all arranger grown classes to
the highest scoring entries from the first place winners among the high awards.
Certificates may be awarded to all classes,.
Entries
competing for arranger grown certificates must write "A-G" (for
arranger grown) on the entry tag,
Decisions of
the judges will be final. Judging will be in accordance with ARS rules for
Judging Rose Arrangements. Judges are requested to write comments on all
arrangements except blue ribbon arrangements and to note on the entry tag those
arrangements winning ARS Certificates or Awards.
Only judges and
clerks will be allowed in the arrangements' section during judging.
